Winter Vacation Destinations You Can Drive To
Sometimes winter just gets to be too much and you need to escape the cold and wet weather for a few days or maybe even a few weeks. Some travelers can fly to all kinds of exotic locations, but if you’re looking for a spot you can drive to, we have some ideas for winter vacation destinations you might enjoy.
There is, of course, always Florida. Sure, it might get a little crowded, but there aren’t many places prettier than Disney and Universal around Christmas. And Orlando is just one of the many places in Florida to visit—if you do a little research you’ll have no trouble finding a warm, sparsely populated beachfront to hang out on through December.
If Florida is a little too busy for you, try Tybee Island in Georgia, a town that sits on five miles of beach and offers affordable lodging. For those in the western US, Southern California has some great spots as well, like San Diego with its world famous zoo or the quieter Catalina near the Pacific coast.
If you don’t mind the cold, take a trip to Colorado, Vermont, or Montana for the best skiing the US has to offer.
