Don Draper’s Cadillac of “Mad Men” Auctioned Off For High Price
The lamentations of Mad Men fans continues, because in addition to the drama series ending earlier this year, the 1965 Cadillac Coupe de Ville driven by character Don Draper, played by actor Jon Hamm, has now officially been sold.
The vehicle was auctioned off along with many other props from the series, which took place in 1960s New York. Astonishingly – Don Draper’s Cadillac was purchased for $48,980, more than three times the usual amount asked for other 1965 Coupe de Ville models in similar shape.
For fans of the show, this may come as less of a surprise. The car was featured heavily throughout the series, which ran for an impressive seven seasons; that’s a lot of screen time for one Cadillac.
Of the many other Mad Men props that were auctioned off, most of which consisted of jewelry, furniture, and other period-appropriate accessories and decorations; none of those items came close to matching the price of the car.
Do you think $48,980 was a reasonable price? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
