Tips To Help Keep Your Baby Safe in the Car
Being a parent is hard, which is why there are so many resources and tools to help you out. September is recognized as Baby Safety Month and is a special time to look at ways we can improve our child’s safety in all aspects of life. Since we’re in the business of selling cars, we want to help you keep your baby safe in the car.
You want to make sure you always use a car seat for your baby. Doctors recommend you keep your child in a rear-facing seat until they are at least two years old. Before you install your child’s car seat, make sure you read the entire manual that comes with it. You might think you know how to install it, but there’s a good chance you will do it incorrectly if you do not read the instructions. In fact, numerous studies have shown that as many as three out of four seats are used improperly.
In addition to reading the manual, you can have your seat installation inspected by a professional. Check with your pediatrician to see if they know of any local inspection areas.
In addition to keeping your baby properly restrained in the car, you also never want to leave them alone in the car. Every year, children die because they are left in or become trapped inside a hot car. The interior temperature of a vehicle can quickly rise, especially in the heat of summer. To help make sure this doesn’t happen, always keep your car locked, so your child doesn’t climb inside and locked themselves in on their own. Also, keep your cell phone, purse, or wallet in the back seat so you never forget your child is back there.
Here at Wayne Thomas Chevy Cadillac, we want to make sure the whole family stays safe while riding in the car.
