2016 Chevrolet Colorado is America’s Most Fuel-Efficient Pickup
Chevrolet confirmed last month that the 2016 Chevy Colorado with two-wheel drive and its turbo-diesel engine is the most fuel-efficient pickup truck on the road, taking the title from the Ram 1500. The diesel engine is a brand new option for the Colorado and allows for an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway, with the four-wheel drive option getting 29 mpg highway.
The 2016 Colorado is the first mid-size truck in the industry to have a diesel option. Chevy director of Truck Marketing Sandor Piszar says the diesel engine is “in a league of its own,” able to go 651 miles on one tank of gas. The new diesel engine also comes with two features that give the driver extra control: an integrated trailer brake controller and a smart diesel exhaust braking system.
The diesel engine isn’t the only best-in-class feature of the new Colorado. With its segment-leading trailering capacity of up to 7,600 lbs and max torque of 369 lb-ft, the Colorado is one of the most capable trucks on the road.
